Work experience at Affinity Water

Having children (legally this is anyone under 18) on Affinity Water’s operational / industrial sites presents a number of safeguarding and health and safety risks that we currently do not have mitigations, processes and procedures in place for.  The welfare and safety of our staff and visitors is our number one consideration / priority.  Therefore, we are unable to host individual work experience placements.

However, the Education Team run a programme called ‘Industrial Cadets’, which takes place periodically.  Industrial Cadets is an accredited work experience programme for young people, supported by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT).  A group of students spend a week with the company (during a school holiday e.g. half term), finding out about what we do as well as completing a project to address a ‘real life challenge’ that we face; this will involve things like site visits to different areas of the business and an overall understanding of the type of work that various departments do.  At the end of the week, students present their work and receive a nationally recognised Silver level Industrial Cadets award.  This is similar to receiving a Duke of Edinburgh award, but with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). Students can therefore use this award when applying for jobs / further education.

If you would like to register your interest for Industrial Cadets, so that you can be informed about future programmes and initiatives that we are running, we have a mailing list specifically for this. To be added to it, you will need to email the following information (including the “please notify me” sentence to comply with GDPR), to :

Please notify me via email about any future opportunities with Affinity Water for the Industrial Cadets programme, or other similar initiatives.
